The Risk at Margins (RAM) ): a blueprint for de-fragmenting disaster risk reduction with populations at risk is an external collaborative project led by Professor Jenni Barclay of the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia that seek to improve how disaster risk reduction is integrated into sustainable development. Its overall intention is to work with at-risk communities on St. Vincent and those responsible for managing future volcanic risk. Specifically, it aims to develop efforts to implement community led monitoring by equipping persons aged 16-25 with the requisite skills and tools to document physical changes in their landscape. The documentation will take the form of photography and will be taught to the participants through workshops and support from local mentors. Participants will be guided by scientists on what to look for in the landscape as well as the significance of their findings. This project also provides participants with an avenue to express themselves and their emotions.
